Review of Monster in the Moonlight by Annelise Ryan

MONSTER IN THE MOONLIGHT (Monster Hunter #4) by Annelise Ryan will be released on January 27, 2026, by Berkley.

When the body of a mutilated woman is found along Bray Road in Wisconsin, cryptozoologist Morgan Carter finds herself investigating The Beast of Bray Road. The Beast—a werewolf type creature—has a long history along Bray Road, and the townspeople of Elkhorn are ready to believe that the Beast has returned. To prove them wrong—and find justice for the murdered woman—Morgan takes on the case. When the body of another mutilated woman is found along Bray Road, the case against the Beast continues to grow. Meanwhile, Morgan remains focused on finding the human responsible for the deaths.

MONSTER IN THE MOONLIGHT is a fun read and is the perfect choice for anyone who has an interest in cryptozoology. Despite being a cryptozoologist, Morgan Carter is also a skeptic. She’s open to the Beast of Bray Road being real, but she does not believe that it is killing anyone. Her conviction that a human is responsible for the two deaths keeps her moving forward and drives her to get justice for the murdered women.
