A MURDER IN BELGRAVIA (Tate and Bell Mystery #9) by Irina Shapiro was released on October 11, 2026, by Storm Publishing.
When a Member of Parliament drops over dead at a dinner party being attended by two of the highest-ranking men at Scotland Yard, the cause of death is going to be questioned. Inspector Sebastian Bell and his pathologist wife, Gemma Tate, are brought in to investigate, and they vehemently disagree with the attending doctor’s assertion that the victim died of heart failure. No, the politician was killed by a fast-acting poison that could have only been administered by one of his guests or a servant. The investigation takes Sebastian and Gemma from the opulent mansions in Belgrave to the slums in their search for a killer.
A MURDER IN BELGRAVIA is a solid addition to the Tate and Bell Mystery series. The identity of the killer kept me guessing until the end. It is also nice to see people aside from Sebastian and Colin take Gemma seriously and include her as an active participant in the investigation. This book goes into in-depth details of women and children were forced to work in brothels and how badly they were treated. This is also a bizarre scene between Sebastian and a prostitute that I’m still trying to wrap my head around.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
