MRS. MORRIS AND THE DAY OF THE DEAD (Salem B&B #10) by Traci Wilton will be released on August 26, 2025, by Kensington Cozies.
B&B owner Charlene Morris is hosting a group of tourists throughout Salem’s various Halloween festivities. One of those guests, Isabella Perez, is hoping to contact her sister who has been missing for the past two years. Marisol Perez was a very popular psychic in Salem until she disappeared. Isabella not only wants to find out if her sister is alive or dead…she also wants to get permission to marry Marisol’s former boyfriend. While Charlene’s boyfriend, Detective Sam Holden, focuses on his investigation into Marisol’s disappearance, she focuses on helping Isabella with a paranormal inquiry. For various reasons, Charlene and the ghost who haunts her B&B— Dr. Jack Strathmore—suspect Marisol’s former boyfriend/Isabella’s current boyfriend, Rico Flores. But Rico is not the only person with motive, and that person has now turned their attention to Charlene.
MRS. MORRIS AND THE DAY OF THE DEAD is the first Salem B&B mystery that I’ve read, and it figures that it is the final one in the series. Because I did not read the other nine books, I felt like I was missing some crucial information. I was still able to enjoy the story. I especially liked the scenes involving the different Halloween and Day of the Dead activities around Salem. I also learned a lot about Santa Muerte. Aside from the writing coming off as chaotic at times—info and dialog in places that seemed random and did not fit—MRS. MORRIS AND THE DAY OF THE DEAD was an interesting cozy.
