MURDER ON DEVIL’S RIDGE (Tate and Bell Mystery #8) by Irina Shapiro will be released on
July 28, 2026, by Storm Publishing.
Gemma Tate and her new husband, Sebastian Bell, are visiting his family in Suffolk when the body of a young girl is found on Devil’s Ridge. There are tales of pagan rituals having taken place on Devil’s Ridge in the past, and the way the girl’s body is display leads them to believe that she was a Pagan sacrifice. The girl is the eldest daughter of a local nobleman, and it is believed that’s the reason the girl was targeted. With no local police in that area of Suffolk, Sebastian uses his position with Scotland Yard to take control of the investigation. With threats both inside and out of the manor house, Sebastian and Gemma are determined to find the killer. When one of the girl’s younger sisters goes missing, the pressure to solve the case becomes more urgent. Who hated the noble family so much that they would ritualistically kill the eldest daughter?
I am a huge fan of the Tate and Bell Mysteries, and MURDER ON DEVIL’S RIDGE is a great addition to the series. The books are always atmospheric, and it was a nice change to see Gemma and Sebastian outside of London. The mystery is very compelling. There is a lot going on in the manor house, and there are plenty of suspects at the manor and in the nearby town. Sebastian has no jurisdiction in Suffolk, and Gemma, as usual, is doubted because she is a woman. Despite the obstacles in their way, the newly married couple refuse to let anything prevent them from solving the case.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
